Soil and leaf testing for accuracy

Accurate fertilisation relies on data, not just experience. Soil testing reveals pH, available nutrients and holding capacity, guiding how much to add. Leaf analysis reflects the crop's actual nutritional status during growth.

Observing deficiency symptoms such as yellowing or stunted growth also gives clues, though these should be confirmed by testing to avoid misdiagnosis.

Fertilising is not about feeding a crop as much as possible, but giving it exactly what it needs, when it needs it.

Avoiding overuse and protecting the environment

Fertiliser overuse, especially nitrogen, wastes money and causes harm: leaching pollutes water, greenhouse gases rise, soils acidify and degrade, and produce quality falls. Balanced fertilisation with organic inputs sustains long-term fertility.
